September 2023 we will be focusing on our 7th Green Flag.  New member were elected.  Meetings were held to discuss what initiatives we implemented and  achieved last year.

January 2024 – We celebrated Grandparents Day with visits to the classrooms on both campuses followed by tea and cakes on the senior campus.


March 2024- We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge, International  Womens Day  and enjoyed ‘Mindfulness’ Activities with Bernie   

                                                               April 2024 - We sowed wild flower seeds


May 2024 -  Visiting animals.


June 2024 – Whole school 5k Walk & School tours

September 2024 – Year 2 Global awareness survey completed. Travel to school survey also completed by each class on senior campus.


October 2024 – There was a lot of ‘Nattering’ going on in 4th class when our very own ‘BATMAN’ – Mr. Dollard arrived with a rare bat which he found lifeless on his footpath. The Natter bat.


November 2024 - The WEE Ireland battery initiative has been a huge success each year. Students were encouraged to bring in old batteries from Christmas lights and other Christmas ornaments to be recycled.


December 2024 – Mr. Lowthe’s 3rd class visited the nursing home, spreading Christmas cheer to the residents and staff. 
There were lots of opportunities to learn about Christmas around the World at assembly and at class performances.


We even had Santa visit on his sleigh which helped us raise money for charity.


JANUARY 2025  – We celebrated Grandparent’s Day at Mass in the parish church.

Our senior classes competed in the Credit Union Quiz.

We attended a wonderful Peace Proms performance at SETU in Waterford. Thanks to Ms. Hickey and Ms. Burke for the many hours of choir practice


We had a really interesting presentation by Una from SEAI on Energy to 3rdand 4th Classes on the senior Campus


Una will return later in the year to present to the Junior classes.

February 2025 – Mr. Tennyson’s 5th Class planted a Native Tree. Mr. Tennyson’s 5th, Ms. McDonald’s 4th and Ms. Baldwin’s Class all participated in the Supervalu ‘Incredible Edibles’ planting initiative, sowing cress, salad leaves, peas and French beans.


 

Global Goals Lessons were completed by all classes in February.  Senior Infants learned all about the importance of books and reading through the story of Biblioburro - a true story from Columbia, where a man travelled the country sharing books with children.  This fall under Global Goal 4 of Quality Education.  They drew pictures and spoke about the books they would share with their friends.

March 2025 -  The students on both campuses really enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day.     Ms. McDonald’s 4th class participated in the An Post Writing Competition.                  



 The students performed  a Ceolchoirm for Seachtain na Gaeilge.


The Junior campus celebrated National Flag Day with a colourful parade around the junior campus.

 

The Green School Committee planted a kerb side flower bed outside of the senior campus to help support Mooncoin’s Tidy Towns


Litter picking continues throughout the year. 4th class in action at the playground in the village
